Has anyone thought about sailing at Stanley park Third and Second beaches. Third has good exposure from West to South. Second is good from West to South East.
Pay parking but saves quite a drive for some and no weeds.
Challenge is the land mast to the South may be blocking Southerly winds. It shouldn't be a problem for West or Northwest winds. Coast guard is just around the corner. Thoughts?

I'm sure you could sail there but the down wind exits look sketchy, water state is probably poor on a S and wind exposure doesn't look great. West or NW I think Acadia would be a much better bet and even on a weak forecast I think Boundary Bay would be a better place to sail.

I checked it on a NW a couple weeks ago but it wasn't really getting in there. Maybe on the odd nuke day, but in those cases it will be windy at Ambleside too and parking is free.

I sailed First Beach/English Bay Beach once on a SE decades ago shortly after first arriving in Vancouver. Big gear, flat water and puffy wind, so I never went back again. Based on a sample size of one.

I've gone over to Third Beach on my foil board on Westerlies. The wind gets very fluky once you get close in to the beach when it's W.

In Southerlies I find that Vancouver takes the brunt of the S wind and then the mountains force it to cycle E. So you'd almost never see S wind at Third Beach, it would be E.

I have sailed Jericho on E or NE winds and it's not bad.
