Hit the dawn patrol session at Tsawwassen. Arrived at 6am, still dark, wind was absolutely nuking!!! Hit the water by 620, took out the 12m + TT, and was MEGA LIT AF!! (definitely should have taken the 9! still made the most of it with biiiig boosters! ) Gf rode her 7m, friends were on their 8m and 10m, only ones on the water. Came off at 8am to make it to work by 9am downtown. 2 other kiters were just arriving.
Hopefully everyone had a great session out there this morning!

Wind died off immediately after Alton and I slogged our 7m up to Acadia. I went back and switched to 12m the rest drove up to dog beach to avoid the long walk.

Wind was up and down on the 12m and eventually lulled to nothing and I had to rescue. Then when I'm untangling my lines a woman walks by with a retriever. I'm always super worried about dogs especially with my low strut kites so I pick up my kite and tell her to please keep her dog away as they put holes in kites. She laughs and walks on, the dog stays a bit until I shoo it away. She's now about 400m away and I'm back to untangling and all of a sudden the dog is back in my face, I race it to my kite before it can jump on it, thankfully the dog chose to go around it. Then the dog is racing around in a circle and grabs my lines in it's mouth and takes off full steam. Not sure how hard he was biting them but once he used up the slack they came out of his mouth, hopefully without any damage.

Dog owners are so clueless, even after you tell them point blank of the dangers >.<

At dawn Slappy and I were first on the water on 7m + surfboards. It was a good start but soon got lighter. Instead of switching kites, we decided to head to up Acadia. Some clean but small waves upwind of dog beach (way better then the crazy ass chop by Spanish Banks). Worked hard to reach upper Acadia but once we got there the wind started to tank so we darted back to Spanish Banks.

Moved to dog beach and launched 12m+surfboard along with Jerry, Clay, Benito, Rob and Sam but it was up and down ... down and up  Got bored after riding gusts for an hour. Spotted 4 windsurfers including Brian and Johnny.

Looks like you guys got the best wind in Tsawwassen (especially Point Roberts). Congrats.

Stupid meeting! 10 am meeting meant I had to get to the beach before dawn to make it worth it. That was OK as the peak daylight wind was forecast for day break. Arrived in the dark and took a couple of wind readings (to make sure I didn't over-estimate the wind with sensory deprivation) - the wind app using the iPhone mic read 17 mph steady and the iWindsurd pinwheel read 20 gusting 23. Rigged 5.3/115 in the dark and was ready to go at 'civil' dawn (half hour before sunrise). M arrived just in time to use me as wind dummy. First ride out and first few runs were a little stop-start, then it filled in a little and gaining ground became easier. M joined in and we sailed above the pier for a while then I grew wary of the boulders I had remembered further up the beach (and besides the waves had better shape and more power below the piles from the old pier). Fun water with ramps on the way out and some rides on the way in (even a few sloppy frontside rides). Water is like a mix of the rolling swell of Pipers and the steeper swell of Columbia Beach with a touch of Pistol River (sideon). I would gladly get up a 4:30 am a few days a week if that was on call every morning!
