First Squamish Thermal

Weather talk and On Site Reports (604)800-2770

We got our first true Squamish thermal today, nice steady 16 knots. Hope someone gets some.

Look for a city thermal on Friday at SB or WR too, not 100% but might happen if you have LW gear.

I already scored my first inflow runs on the river 2 weekends ago! Squamish season is almost upon us :D

It seemed more frontal in nature.
There was more variance than the graph shows.
There was a cloud with virga (?) pulsing at the new LNG plant for the whole session.
Still nice to get out with no people around.
I meant crowds.

Stickypedia says
" In meteorology, virga is an observable streak or shaft of precipitation that falls from a cloud but evaporates or sublimes before reaching the ground."

thats what was happening at the new Woodfibre LNG and it seemed to be contributing to the variability.

There was a solid temperature gradient in effect van->squam->lillooet though so I'll call it a thermal. We've had some inflows already but the gradient hasn't been there until today.

Looks like the city thermal delivered a solid 12 knots from 1:30-5:00 today, I would expect similar tomorrow with another 3 degree gradient forecast.
