SE Sunday

Looks like a powerful low sliding through with very strong westerlies in behind late Sunday afternoon into the evening. There should be a bit of SE winds in the am before the big switch.

Two good options:

1.) Get out in the moderate am SE-SSE winds, have lunch, then stick around locally hoping for the big switch to westerly before dark at Spanish banks.

2.) Head to Locust first thing for stronger SSE winds, have lunch, then head to JWSP and wait for the big westerly to come barrelling down JDFS.

Option #2 would give you the best odds for stronger wind and bigger waves.

Cheers,

Chris

Not going to happen. Looks like the switch is going to happen around midnight with the latest model runs

3rd or 72nd again, was 3rd flooded this morning at high tide or was it okay to launch?

I gave Jack poor directions for this Morning, it was park car, pump, launch kite then head down to the grass.

Tweegster, if you're up for a trip I think either Locust or Useless Bay on Whidbey are going to give you your best conditions tomorrow. The pressure slope looks way too easterly, onshore, for B-Bay until way late when it veers around. Winds backing from SE to E usually suck pretty bad as the water gets really choppy before flattening out completely.

The forecast down south is mental with winds building from SE 15-25 at first light ramping up to SE 50-65 knots by evening. If you can crash overnight in Oak Harbour JWSP should be epic Monday morning with a huge westerly push down JDFS. Might be perfect for a last minute road trip :D

As always, if you have a free day don't wait for the wind. Follow the strongest actuals and the best forecast..........south of the border. Looking forward to checking out the webcam for Useless Bay tomorrow. Should be pretty sick in the afternoon with 5m conditions, low tide and a big exposed sandbar for flat water and wave conditions.

Cheers,

Chris

Have you looked at some of the forecasts to the south Alton? Crazy SE50-65 mph stuff late afternoon. If 60% of what they are calling for makes it up it'll be nuts at Boundary Bay. The path of that low is so critical. Too far south we get NE winds all day. Direct hit we get light and variable. Just north of us, current track, branches snap off trees :D

Check out Locust............

Thanks for the heads up Chris, we have friends coming over this afternoon, so I was limited to early morning local session. Felt like Squamish, disorganized waves, crap in the water, F-in cold but a firm bar.

No kiteloop attempts today. Powered up on the 10M Dice is a bit more intimidating than underpowered on the 7M Evo. Not to mention I had no desire to go for a long body drag today.
