Tuesday looks solid for all local beaches with a good southern exposure. The winds will back off slightly in the early am hours after the 50+ mph SE winds Monday night with the associated warm front moves through.
However, winds will quickly rebuild again mid morning as the deep low pressure impulse tracks across southern Vancouver Island. The centre of this low will be critical to the local winds. The current track has it setup perfectly for a huge southerly blow on Tuesday. If the low tracks just 20 miles further south of the projected path the local winds will be all over the map.
As it stands now, expect winds to increase to S-SSW 35-45+ mph by mid morning Tuesday. The winds will stay strong all day and quickly switch to W 30-40 mph in the afternoon as the low pressure centre tracks inland. Winds will veer further to NW and slowly subside in the evening.
The best bet locally looks to be a dawn patrol session at 3rd followed by an afternoon session at a beach that can take a veering S to SSW wind. Something along the lines of PR, Crescent or WRB would work for the afternoon.
This one has the potential for crazy wind speeds depending on how close the centre of the low tracks to the north of us. 90%+ positive it's going to be a big wind day from dawn patrol to early afternoon hours with the current forecast.
Cheers,
Chris
