Whidbey's West Beach is where you need to be tomorrow. There's no need to worry about changing direction, wind speed, tides, etc, etc. It will be epic from morning to dark. Way bigger, cleaner waves and swell then anything locally plus stronger winds. It's not sensitive to the exact position of the low like the Lower Mainland. Stick a Hoover vacuum in the vicinity of the Eastern Strait of Juan de Fuca and it's going to suck :D Seriously, epic 1/5 year forecast with every model aligned. This should be a no brainer for anyone that likes big waves, big swell and big wind. You don't have to second guess changing wind directions, tide conditions, logs and where to go. West 30-40 gusting 50mph for 90% of the daylight hours. Check the actuals, leave at 7am and your on the water at 9am ripping. Commit when you wake up if the local actuals aren't stellar and go.........you won't be disappointed :D

Rant over.........

Chris

You'd love it Alton. 8-12 foot spaced out crumbling waves from the SW with 6-7 meter W winds and 12'+ swell on the outside. Lots of front side opportunities up towards Deception pass. The tide is high enough the death shelf won't be a factor and the waves will be spaced out nicely. Perfect conditions for your surfboard :)

Alton go to West Beach :D WRB will never come close to the wave size, wave spacing and wind strength compared to what Whidbey will dish up today. Full on Unicorn day with all the models and forecasts in alignment right down to the TAF. Check the actuals and go!!!!!!

Sorry. I got to wimp out.

Yesterday at 3rd Ave we were all getting uncomfortable when it hit SSE 35 gusting 40.

I can't imagine how W 30-40 gusting 50 feels like - nor do I want to

I was watching forecast for Gordon's West and thought about heading to the island, but not sure that today would provide the 'orientation' I was hoping for ~

Kus (posted on BWD): wonder what 20 feet at 12 secs with 35-45kn will look like....looking for some foam for the suit now - Monday November 16, 10:34PM

Right now Locust looks like the only real S wind option locally, but was hoping for White Rock East Beach.

I may try and pop out locally, depending on what actuals present. OSR's greatly appreciated, as always.

Our Bellingham buddies from NSKA are planning a trip down to West Beach. They're braver than I.

Very smart friends!!!!!! It's W28G37 at JWSP with massive swell and peeling waves right now. It'll be windy until dark with waves well overhead high. Sheringham Point was W53G60 at 12 noon. Awesome choice if you like high wind and big waves. Hope the local scene works for those that decided to sit around and wait rather then drive to West Beach.

Cheers,

Chris

The death shelf seems ominous...why do they call it that?! ;)

Seriously, though....what is it? :)
