The models still appear to be very much in rapid transition next week ~ WindGuru GFS has just consolidated and tipped in favour of Tuesday ~ hard to track the bouncing ball right now. Going to focus on Sunday actuals for now and worry about the rest of the week on Sunday night. With a little bit of luck there will be enough wind for all to play locally on Sunday! :D ;)

Hey Dave,

The models are all in agreement with a strong warm front set to move through our waters tomorrow. There will be SE 35-45+ winds south of the border at Locust and Whidbey in the early afternoon.

I would expect 3rd and other local SE spots to really ramp up mid to late afternoon. There should be a good session in store for the get off work early 9-5 crowd :D

Tuesday is the day with a million variables and the potential for a severe windstorm

There's a very powerful SE/S wind event forecast for tomorrow late afternoon / overnight for the Lower Mainland. Winds will gust to 50+ mph by tomorrow evening out of the SSE. The timing looks like things will really start to ramp up by mid to late afternoon and continue to build into the evening and overnight hours.

Once it starts blowing out of the SE it will continue to ramp up into the 3.0-3.5 / 5-6m range. Tomorrow night is going to be a wild one  If you miss tomorrow afternoon Tuesday dawn patrol for strong southerlies is a good bet as of now.

Cheers,

Chris

Holy crap. Looks like a repeat of last Thursday. I just want a relaxing SE 30 knot day - is that asking too much?

Hey Alton,

I think BWD is way optimistic with the timing. SE 35+ by 9am at 3rd is pushing it. I would say more like 6+ hours later around 3pm or so. If you can free up tomorrow I would highly recommend Locust over waiting locally if the actuals aren't there at 3rd. If 3rd is cranking forget about Locust. The Whidbey TAF is showing SE 18G28 by mid morning. Locust should have that by 12:00 pm or so and then 3rd a few hours later.

Cheers,

Chris

7pm model runs still showing a mid afternoon ramp up the most probable for 3rd. Hopefully the timing is a couple hours earlier. Pressures are starting to drop offshore with a direction change to easterly which is good. Tomorrow late afternoon through the night will be wild with the heavy rain and 50+ mph wind gusts out of the SE :D
