Glad your safe Alton. Coast Guard rides are not much fun.

Plus VPD board retrieval service. Cheaper than SWS membership ;)

High tide and logs were the thing to watch out today. Wb 650 am to 9 am (there was a race at uBC, hard to get out after)., then ambleside 1045 am to 1220pm , surf was OK at pebble side, then surf died, half the size, tide too high for sandy aside, so i drove back, the best surf was at capilano aside ( noticed that as i was passing lions), kept going.
I was going to call it a day but hb kept at 1m, so I headed to wb, 1:20 pm to 3 pm,got 2 great rides, keeldude and Adam(leaving) were there.
Had to be aware of logs in the morning, those bombs were everywhere and they don't move
Carnage was unavoidable, branches everywhere too, did not care about board, more about face hitting them. Sorry to hear about damage boards, got mine banged up, beginning to hate fiberglass repairs every 3 sessions. Everybody seemed to get some today, except Jeff, I'll see if I can find another funny video soon.

Wow, if you are learning to surf on your new North Whip you are either super human or you got it too big for kiting!

Amazing day for me at SB. 7m from 10:00 'till 1:30. Spent the morning out in the middle of the bay between the freighters hunting for nice swell and dodging the sailboat regatta. Shoulder high rollers were available if you hunted for them. Must have been some decent breakers at Ambleside. Also no logs out there.

Once the tide dropped I came back to the shelf for some nice little waves, especially good stuff between Dog Beach and the concession and with the wind filling in all the way to the beach you could actually get in there and ride it.

Ended the day with one of the better boosting sessions I've ever had at SB. With the wind filled in to the beach it was fun boosting 100m from shore with all the spectators out. I was surprised how much air I was getting with the 7m, quite a work out for the arms to generate the speed and power in those wind levels though.

Almost got my head taken off by a tomahawking kite as I was coming in. Thing smashed down 2 feet from me, could have been ugly.

Hope everyone's gear survived the high tide, those half submerged logs were crazy.

It's a 5'4". It worked pretty well. I'm 135lbs and 5'5". I was able to catch some waves and do a turn up onto the proper wave and ride along it sideways to the beach. I think this surfing thing is pretty fun. First day on a short board and I'm in love with surfing already!

I can't take credit for bwd and wind guru getting it right, but thanks

Jack - Old Adrian and I went to Ambleside around 4pm to check out the conditions and saw one of your party waves with someone else, nice! Ambleside looked like the place to be today. Old Adrian and I almost made a u-turn on the Lions Gate Bridge when coming over when we saw it was blowing nicely there... too bad we didn't. I could've completed the A-Side loop challenge today!!! Sh!t! Now I know to go there on WSW winds though, I don't think NW makes it in there.

I've been pouring rum on my new board to keep its pain levels down... both slot boxes are busted, it's not looking good. We'll see if I can get any sort of warranty coverage through work.. if not it'll be a trip over to Roberts and more credit card swiping. I should take up chess, this windsurfing stuff is too expensive.

Fun conditions at SB despite it being a mine field. A few marginal backloop opportunities and attempts, and a few micro wave rides.
