KBLI Bellingham
TAF Forecasted Nov 13 3:20 am
Fri 4am S 15g30
Fri 12pm S 10
Fri 3pm S 6

Hey Alton,

That TAF actually shows South 15 knots gusting to 30 knots from 4am until 12noon..........8 hours. The winds are forecast to drop at 12noon down to 10 knots. Was the 2 hour window you were referring to from 10am-12noon tide related? I just don't want you to miss out on the three hours of great wind, 7am-10am, before that narrow window you mentioned.

Cheers,

Chris

Crappy Alton :( I'm not sure what advice to give. The local show could be all over by 10:00am wind wise. How's Crescent looking? It usually gets a nice bump up in wind speed with a SSW over the Ferry Terminal. The tide is safe too with it going out soon. No chance of Useless Bay on Whidbey today for you :D

I'm keeping my eye on that developing westerly in Juan de Fuca Strait right now. Sheringham and Race Rocks have just clocked westerly and are building nicely with rising pressures. I'm not sure if the westerly will push straight through to West Beach though.

Unfortunately, that wind switch and pressure change almost always signals just a few more hours of Southerly winds before she shuts down. Find a place locally and get out there before it dies.

Cheers,

Chris

Terminal has bumped up 3 knots from SW15 to SW18G21 @ 7:00am.

You could be kiting on your 9 meter in chest high swell at Useless with Faceplant before 10:00am if you hit the road now :D Crappy that you can't use the 30mph at Locust right now because of the tides. I guess that's one area where windsurfing is easier. If you miss your local window today Alton next Monday looks very "interesting"......... 8-)

Or Sunday westerly??

Alton - where are you getting CZBB? My search gets no METAR/TAF? I used to use the Surrey sailing club sensor as a clue to that area but it seems to be down. I agree local is a big gamble today with all forecasts calling for a wind drop (which is in progress).

Agreed Mike.

The current SW 18G21 is probably not enough wind at the Ferry Terminal or Point Roberts on a weakening forecast to get anyone motivated after yesterday. If you weren't ready for dawn patrol this morning it's not going to happen.

By the time Locust is good for tides the wind might be backing off. Whidbey would have taken a commitment and plan last night based on the excellent forecast for Useless Bay. It's too far and too long of a drive now. Faceplant and the locals will get to rip it up today down there :D

I'm still keeping an eye on West Beach down at Whidbey which has the potential to deliver today. That's about 1 hour closer then Useless Bay. There's now a SCA of W15G25 for the east entrance of JDFS........we'll see what happens.

Cheers,

Chris

I wouldn't be getting out of bed for anything less than 30knots after yesterday :D
