Tide is too high to launch a kite at Locust before 10am. Unfortunately, TJs doesn't look promising after 10am. Hopefully, your forecast is right.

We'll see how it pans out by tomorrow early am Alton. I'm still seeing S-SSW 15-25mph 5.0-5.7 / 10-12m winds from first light to late morning. You could always eliminate all forecast doubt and meet Faceplant at Useless on Whidbey. S-SW gales of 25-35 knots all day tomorrow down there. The webcam should be fun to watch :D

Morning Alton,

It's been cranking all night as I'm sure you noticed. As of 5am Locust is still South 35 gusting to 43 mph. It has averaged into the mid thirties since dark yesterday night.

Weather Synopsis: The powerful warm front that gave you strong SE winds yesterday has slid out of the region. The associated low pressure system the warm front came from has moved southwards throughout the night and has begun to fill - (rising central pressure and weakening).

That same low pressure system has produced a cold front that will affect your winds today. The angle that cold front will cross the lower mainland and related isobar angle will cause the winds to be either Southerly or SSW today.

The cold front is forecast to stall over the region as the low fills. The cold front stalling is what will keep the direction going S-SSW longer today and not quickly switching to W and tanking. The speed in which the low fills determines how windy and how long it will stay windy locally. The pressure has risen to 990mb as of 5:00am. 1013 is standard pressure so you'll have a few hours of wind this morning.

Wind Guestimate @ Top Local Spot Today:

0700-0800 Southerly 22-31mph
0800-0900 Southerly 18-27mph
0900-1000 South South West 17-25mph
1000-1100 Southwest 16-23mph
1100-1200 Southwest 11-20mph

Pick a local beach that offers a good tide and good exposure to S-SSW direction. The earlier you can be on the water the better. The wind will not increase today. It will very slowly back off through the morning hours and shutdown by the afternoon sometime. Target being suited and in the water by 7:00am if possible after CONFIRMING the actuals.

Top Choices For Wind This Morning
1.) Locust
2.) 3rd
3.) Crescent
4.) Point Roberts
5.) Ferry Terminal
6.) White Rock Beach

Good luck & have fun :D

Cheers,

Chris

Thanks Chris. SSW wind shadow at 3rd Ave doesn't work and neither does high tide at White Rock. 72nd might work - CZBB S 16g22 at 5:40am.

Locust would be number one in my books after Useless. Get on that water first light today. No need to waste perfectly good wind :D
