Joseph Whidbey State Park aka West Beach on Whidbey Island. It's the furthest west point of land on Whidbey Island and it sits directly at the east entrance of Juan de Fuca Strait. On a clear day you can see Japan :D Big current, big waves and ridiculous swell size on a forecast like this..........not a beginner / intermediate spot in 30+ mph winds.

Looking Good!!!!! The earlier the better for JWSP. You definitely don't want to be arriving at 1pm.

Our son usually wakes up around 630. I'm trying to think if I can get everyone up and out the door by 7. That gets us to JWSP by 10 ish. Stoke factor reaching maximum levels.

Thats a tough one..........

My experience with these fast moving cold fronts is that there usually is only about a 6-8 hour window of solid west wind at JWSP before things fall off. The "easing" to W20G30 in the afternoon usually means W10G15 after the initial surge is finished.

You'll be on the road tomorrow during prime time, 7am-10am, both locally and for JWSP. With the timing of this front earlier is definitely better.

Is there any chance of checking the actuals locally and stealing a session at Spanish Banks from sunrise until 10am before heading south? If Acadia is dead, by all means hit the road at 7am and give er'. Just thinking out loud to try and cover all possibilities.

Im 12 hours ahead over here and will check the pressures, actuals and forecast updates through the night. I'll post a "best bet" at 5am tomorrow your time.

Don't get me wrong, JWSP will be windy with surf tomorrow. It just might not be 5-7 meter wind if you hit the water late morning. Thursday and Friday will both be awesome at Double Bluff Park in Useless Bay...........fantastic setup!

Cheers,

Chris

Thanks a lot Chris. We are 136km from JWSP. Planning on leaving by 7.
If lucky there by 9. Double bluff is the place then for S or SE? What about oak harbouror oak bay(1 minute from our hotel)?

Double Bluff is where you want to be on Thursday / Friday. It's another hour south of your hotel on Highway West 20. Beautiful drive down there with water on both sides. The tide setup is great for Double Bluff as well. There will be lots of locals kiting there both days. Oak Harbour will get wind but the onshore launch is tricky with the military base closures now. I think you guys would be way happier with Double Bluff. Nice beach for exploring and walking around too. 9am should set you up nicely for JWSP........get ready for some monster waves

Cheers,

Chris
