SE Tuesday

Weather talk and On Site Reports (604)800-2770

The 120 hour out projected surface pressure gradients and predictive upper level atmosphere models show another nice low pressure centre spinning up in the Eastern Pacific and moving our way for Tuesday.

This one has a projected track that starts out a little further south. This setup usually brings a quick shift to Westerly and a burst of strong west winds down JDFS after frontal passage..........excellent for West Beach on Whidbey.

There should be a block of strong SE winds, 6-8 hours, before the frontal passage for Locust and Boundary Bay with the predicted speed of the jet stream and low pressure centre. It looks like a good setup for a double session with Locust in the morning and West Beach in the afternoon. I'll take a look again over the weekend and see how things are shaping up.

There's another projected low fast on its heels for Thursday. This one looks like it could have some serious power.

So much for El Niño conditions to start the season

Chris - today was my "wind day" off work for the month. Aiming to not ask for more than once a month to keep the peace at the office. I'll hit the sacred Whidbey soon enough.

The front and timing looks a little slower 48 hours out. Not sure if it's going to hit in daylight hours. One thing is for certain though........a very active, windy pattern with almost daily fronts will setup Wednesday through Sunday. There should be some great opportunities for local wind during that period.

Looks now for sure that the SE Tuesday is off the table. The SE winds are set to ramp up after dark. There's a long shot Locust might get an hour or two before dark. Should be onshore E10-20 at 3rd in the afternoon.

Whidbey TAF showing SE for tomorrow afternoon. Keep an eye on Locust. If Whidbey gets going earlier Locust shouldn't be far to follow. You guys might just squeak out a couple hour afternoon session tomorrow after all. Don't think 3rd will go until after dark :(

Looks like Whidbey is going to ramp up tomorrow around noon and Locust shortly after. If anyone goes to Whidbey stop at Ebey Landing first to check the conditions before heading to Double Bluff another 40 minutes south.

Wind just clocked SSE down at Whidbey and Locust within the past hour. The pressure just started dropping and looks good. Here we go for the start of the SE-SSE building winds all day. Hopefully 3rd gets something before dark. Head down to Locust now if you want to guarantee getting on the water the next 4 days in a row............insane!!
