Locust: started out copying Alton and Rob by going 7M & surf board. Was nice R&R steady for about 20-30 minutes. Perfect after Columbia yesterday. Then it got windy. When it hit I got caught on a white knuckled mach 1 run even with the kite high. Became a work session for me going from none to full depower. For a windsurfer comparison, when Dave C and I were at Locust last week I was lit on a 3.7 sail with the sensor in the 30g40 range. Today the peak was 38g44 on the sensor.

Great session at 3rd. Lit with full depower on 10. I could have easily been on my 7 but didn't want to get my new Park sandy.

Waves were excellent on the low tide, but the best waves were over a mile out of the edge of the bank. Had some lonely time out there until Michael and Dave B arrived. Nice wave riding dudes, great turns and slashes on the clean faces!

Today was definetely one of the top 5 wave days I have had out there with some head high sets than ran along the bank for up to 3 hits. Stoked.

Started off as a slog fest but I had seen the Saturna sensor at 27 Knots before I went out so I just stuck with it. Finally things kicked in and it turned into one of the best sessions this fall.
There were waves everywhere but on the outside they were awesome. I was sailing with a kiter on a black Naish kite, I think it was Tony, he was killing it on those waves. They were really long and clean and some of the biggest I've seen this fall. I was actually getting too much speed on them with my big board and had a few nasty crashes but it was so much fun. The sensor was reading really light today, there mush have been a wind shadow at the beach.

Thought that was you Tony! Unreal out there for sure! I saw you rip down one wave that was head high for sure! Was so stoked!

Wooo! Centennial Beach was quite tasty. 25 steady knots. Fully powered on 76 litre and 5.2 sail. Lots of nice smooth waist-high swell with plenty of starboard ramps. Was raining the whole time though. Warmer than last weekend.

I concur with the raves about today's surprise session. Began at 930 am with a 5.0m slog so switched to 6.0/110 as a sacrificial gesture to the wind gods. It worked! After 30 minutes on the 6.0 it notched way up so I came back for the 5.0/95 litre, flattened the sail and had a blast. Sailed from about 1130 - 130 with the happy handful of us there enjoying the waves. I think it was SSE so lighter at the beach, but no shortage of wind and waves out at the second bank.
It wasn't a scenic day - the rain was heavy all morning - but nothing a hood and my old cycling glasses couldn't deal with. Where was everyone?

ps - Michael, I thought the waves were really good but not exceptional, so I'm guessing they were even better upwind where you were.

I'm totally jealous I didn't have the patience to wait for a wave session at Boundary Bay

Instead, Rob, Mike and I were first at Locust on 7m+surfboards. Started 8am dialed in steady S 25-30g35. At 9am it became intense riding until 10:30am in G...G...G...GUSTY S 35-45!!! It was pretty choppy outside but clean little waves inside. Finally wrapped up at 11:30am before the tide got too high.

Good turn out on 5m and 7m kites including Rob, Mike, Jerry, Lorne, Joe, Mark/Roxstock, Jeff/Tweegster, Mark A, Manuel and lots of locals like Dave C, Tom, Frank ...

Thanks Michael! I saw a sick wave of yours, frontside heading out to jibe on the face. It looked awesome. Dave B was smashing a bunch of waves too with a tiny square nosed strapless board. I think I saw a gopro on your boom - hoping for some pics to get an idea of the scale.

Every now and then...

...something of interest would roll through. Steadier wind and some more shape to the water than last weekend (and less wood). Launched at Centennial Beach and sailed up and around the mile marker and back down. Relaxing 'cool down' session.

I was glad to see the seaweed islands were gone today, what a difference a week makes.
