BWD & GSpot still predicting a whopping 5-10 knot easterly around the Lower Mainland and Locust for the entire day Friday. I'm pretty sure they are both out to lunch again. Looks solid for the northern strait, Comox and Columbia, and solid for Whidbey from late morning onwards. I would expect Locust to join the crowd early afternoon with SE winds 20-30.

3rd is a bit of a stretch still for a long session. I would guess a 1-2 hour of power again Richi.........great for the get off work early crowd. Most likely mid afternoon until dark when it clocks from E to SE and ramps up. There's a ton of rain associated with this front and with the angle it's spinning off the low the winds will probably hang E for a while at 3rd. Expect Pam Rocks to ramp up to 30+ northerly outflow as the low tracks south down Vancouver Island.

Road trip to Comox for dawn patrol would be first choice with Locust number two this Friday.

Cheers,

Chris

Will the tide be ok for kiting at Locust tomorrow? I might be able to blow off work, despite what Ned Stark says...winter is coming...

Yup (CB/CAFB). Nice looking tide from 11 am to 2 pm (3.6 m > 4.5 m).

Afternoon tide (over 7 ft) will make it a sketchy launch. Hope it will blow in the morning.

Everything is still looking good for a great day tomorrow with Comox, Columbia and Whidbey getting the wind first in the morning. Locust should follow up by noon with 3rd getting onboard by mid-late afternoon.

The low and associated front look to be slow filling and slow moving. There is little to no risk of a switch to SW in daylight hours tomorrow.

All models are showing solid gale force SE winds of 25-35 with higher gusts by afternoon for Locust, Whidbey and the northern Strait of Georgia. They show SE 15-25 for 3rd by 2pm tomorrow. The latest Whidbey TAF is already showing good SE winds right from daybreak, Bellingham should upgrade shortly.

Great day for a road trip to the Island, afternoon trip to Locust or afterwork session at 3rd. Saturday looks very early with a switch to southwest and quickly tanking wind. Get out if you can tomorrow.

Cheers,

Chris

Good sign for morning wind at Locust with the Bellingham TAF showing SE10G18 by 7am. With 25-35mph SE down at Whidbey by mid-late morning it won't take long for Locust to ramp up.
