Choppy but also some nice smooth waves waist high, some chest high that made for a very worthwhile session. Couple of kiters late in session but not long as wind dropped. The walk to the launch is no big deal (well maybe a bit more going back when tired). Surprised we didn't go here more when local wind is marginal.
Barefeet breakfast. Hiked both the 4.5 and 4.0 down to the beach and glad I rigged the 4.0. Mike and I had the place all to ourselves (high tide kept the kites away). There was lots of juice when we first took to the water - first jump was 100' off the beach. Came in to flatten it out three times until it felt good. A mix of bump and jump and clean mini waves presented opporunities for jumps in both directions and frontside tries. Fun way to start the day. Water was cool, but in a pleasant sort of way - no boots required and its almost November!

Afternoon surprise! The plan was to stop in White Rock on the way home to check for westerly clearing wind. That is until I got a text from M just as I was leaving Locust and turning north onto I-5 that West Beach had kicked! Quick change in the plan, time to head south for a 'look-see'. I went back to collect Mike, but he had already left - ops!! After chocking down a big slice of humble pie courtesy of the raging shore current and shelf in the beach cut by the rising tide, I finally managed to get out onto the 'playground'! WAY more fun charging around on the waves and wind swell than rolling around in the shore break wrestling with your gear! Fun group of guys to sail with (some who kited earlier in the day from the plywood factory in Bellingham, include Jon who graciously shared some local knowledge on launching from the point in a gust, that proved to be very helpful). Fun afternoon with more than a couple of wide-eyed moments!
