It's been consistently blowing 14 knots for the last few hours at Iona. I'm heading there now with big gear. I will post an OSR when I get there.

Feels like 15 knots with 1 guy out on what looks like a 12m and looking powered. I'm going to pump my 16m.

Yeah, Iona Beach was the call today!

Took my buddy out to show him a few things and enough wind when we arrived to fly my 9 and practice launching, landing and body dragging., probably 12-15. Wind freshened to 15-18 and pumped my 14 and scored about 45 minutes pretty powered up riding as the tide started to come in. :D :D :D

Iona is a great spot on a med to high tide, probably the best I've seen outside of Locust for beginners, esp on a NW. Brett is stoked and hoping for more tomorrow!

Fun session and made it to the Flying Beaver in time to watch the last three innings of the Jays game :P

Nice score Chuck! I was hoping to get out at the Terminal but it wasn't quite enough.
Do you think that place would be good for windsurfing on a big NW?

Seems like I missed the best of it. 1:30 of downwinders underpowered and fighting the incoming. Still good to get out though.

Not quite "End of Days" yet. WindGuru called it today. Arrived at Spanish Banks when it tanked to WSW 10 at 1pm. Launched James on his 15m+surfboard at 1:30pm when it refreshed to WSW 15. He blasted up to Upper Acadia.

Without anyone to launch my 12m, I scored my first successful drift launch in waist deep water. Pretty easy when current from flooding tide pulls slack lines downwind.

Fun 1 hour session from 2-3pm in WSW 16-18. Riding my surfboard with straps was so much easier making it upwind through the Spanish Bank chop instead of tripping off strapless. Worked my way up to Dog Beach enjoying some sweet swell outside in the shipping lane. Once James and I started losing ground we dashed back to shore and celebrated our session.

Hey man!

Happy Birthday! (Belatedly!)

Iona beach is pretty tide dependant...very similar to 72nd, you'd have a looooooong walk on anything lower than today's tides. If you are making the drive in I'd just keep going to Acadia, much better waves/swell option.

Now if you want to learn to kite..... :) ;) ;)

It's a good go-to spot for me, living in Richmond although distance wise it's not that much further to the ferry terminal, only I get to avoid the tunnel traffic.

Nice change rooms at Iona, grassy rigging area and a hose to rinse off stuff afterwards.
'Very civilized' to paraphrase Alton :D

Nice to meet Roxstock today too! Sorry the wind crapped out on ya, thought for sure you'd be killing it with your 16!
