Acadia delivered a sweet 3.7 session for me this morning. Santa delivered my present early. It's still going according to Richi's OSR. As it was ramping up this morning it looked really smooth and I was totally going to rig 5.3. Good thing I listened to Francois and went 3.7 and eventually had to max out downhaul and flatten the sail and I was completely dialed. Water was quite flat for Acadia but swell was still building as I left.

Ambelside was O.K. for kitesurfing too. Wanted to go to Spanish banks but stopped by Ambelside: sunny, 22 knots on the beach at 10 AM = so stayed close to home. 6m+ surfboard was underpowered, shame of walk from dog walk area. The current did not help either. Changed to RB, kept ground but switched to 12m and surfboard. Had to stop to warm fingers anyway. Fun on the waves fun in the Sun.
Tide and current turned around and the waves got much nicer. Wind picked up got OP so changed to 6m+SB, and later to RB again. :)
How was Point Roberts?

Point Roberts was good. Alton got the best part for the first half hour ( 8:30 to 9 ) then I went out and got a few good runs in on the 5.2/Roberts but then it came down again and I switched to my 5.2/ 110L combo. Things were up and down but nice waves to play on but ended up down wind around the point a few times so had to do the walk of shame a lot. Then I put up the 5.8 and it was about the same. Came back to the car after a while to find Alton packing the car in a panic to get to Acadia. DUDE! I stayed a PR and sailed for another hour. This time the wind had picked up a notch and I was ripping on the 5.8/110. This was the best hour of the day for me. Fully power and the swell was getting big. So big at one point I got caught in a few breakers gibing by the old pier and decided to go out to the point and sail with the surfers. The swell was nice and clean out there and now the wind had filled in around the point. Spent about 30 minutes sailing with the surfers and caught some sweet rides there. That part made my day. :D Things dropped off and I was dead tired by then so I called it a day. Sailed from 9 to 1:30 but had a few breaks in between and about 10 walks of shame, it was hard to resists riding the swell around the point.

Point Robert was a pleasant surprise today. Only expecting a quick dawn patrol session, the westerly from 8:30am-9am (W25+) extended until early afternoon (W18-20 with frequent lulls). Nice to ride my 4.7/93L and 5.2/93L in waist high steep waves spaced 30-40 feet apart for some long hero gybes.

Towards noon it flattened out but downwinder waves rides (south of Lighthouse Park) were tons of fun.

Happy some of the crew scored today's westerly:
Point Roberts - Michael, Alton
Acadia - Francois, Johnny, Richi, Dave/C36
Ambleside - Gabe

Hey Guys,

Stoked to hear you guys are enjoying Point Bob :) I'm hoping you catch it on a big SE day this year with the right tide setup too. It's blowing 30 knots up here in the Okanagan as well...........just -5 outside. I'm expecting to see Alton and Michael dodging the ice flow in the a South Thompson River :D

Cheers,

Chris

Some shots from Acadia today (sorry it is a bit of C36 show  thanks to Richi for working the camera 8-) ). 4.0/4.5/85 quad for me (while it lasted).

Michael: Glad you had so much fun at Point Bob - or should we be calling it Point M? :D ;)

Yah, was super fun!

Perfectly dialed on the 4.0 and 78l, swell built up nice as the day progressed and upnexpectedly warmish. I would be pretty happy if 2013 ended on that note, I'm open to more though.

Hey Dave, I'm not sure if you noticed the green barge plowing through the waves in one of the pics. When I first saw it behind you, the spray from the waves hitting the bow was enormous, I swear I was in the gorge for a few seconds :)

Anybody hit white rock today, brad? Curious to see what the wind strength and sea state were like.

It looked sweet in white rock but I am burried in work until janauary at least, so unfortunately I will be MIA until then  . Really itching to try point bob too!

White rock was likely 18-25 variable, and the webcam showed evenly spaced waist high waves near shore. Was pretty warm here too

Chris thanks for getting us out there! Looking forward to an epic day out there as well.
I was talking to the surfers yesterday and they were saying on a good westerly they get head high waves out there breaking around the point. Friday is calling for a SSE but I'm sailing at Centennial if it happens. It's been months since I've had a good session there. Have a good holiday!
