I used exactly the same set-up for both and was planing pretty much the whole time during both sessions - the difference was PR was steadier/stable (a smooth speed curve when it did increase or decrease) with a very nice workable wind/wave angle. Without the swell, it would have been harder to get going. PR may have been a touch lighter than CB on average. CB was super light on the inside (when it was sideoff) and pumping on the outside and it also seemed 'squally' to me (more up and down).
My guess is you would have used the same gear and would have been more comfy. Hope that makes sense.
