I have been training hard for this day. And if it's a true dawn patrol I can hit it before work.

Adrien, the strait winds will be like today's values. The forecasted value for the strait on Friday morning will be gusting 30mph (22 knots).

I've seen 35-45 mph (30knots) gusts in the strait. Dave may have more concise numbers.

We may give it a try. There is a small window for surf at sandy Ambleside on Friday, 9am to 12:30 noon.
It seems you want to give it a shot on Friday, if it doesn't pan out and you have the day off you can always hit Acadia.
Let's shoot for Friday then. We'll confirm tomorrow afternoon after reviewing forecast, NW it's always shifting.

I'll contact the photographer at Sunshine coast to give a heads up.

Thanks Michael! That was Derek from the UBC Club who unfortunately blew his ankle out on a low sandbar earlier in the day. My regular HD cameraman was busy this weekend ;)

Gabriel, we'll see how the forecast pans out. I need at least 20 knts for my 5.2m (biggest sail), possibly a bit less if it gusts higher. My suspicion is Ambleside only works on those classic 2012 35knot all day westerlies, but we'll see. Definitely can't take the take off, but I can be there at dawn and have a 1.5hour window.

Are you planning to SUP or windsurf??

Adrien, if 9-12 is not possible on Friday (time the tide is incoming for Ambleside), we'll shoot for the proper 35knot westerly.

I will be surfing ( 6'8" board). My windsurfing is planing on 14-20 knots (light winds).

 If anyone has Thursday afternoon/evening free, you might want to keep and eye on West Beach at Whidbey Island (BWD and GFS Spotter are both forecasting a westerly clearing wind late in the day) on a favourable tide (3' flooding from 6 pm on).

Who's going where tomorrow morning? Acadia tide too low to windsurf? Ferry terminal kite on flat water? Probably a bit of wait and see.

Acadia will have enough water (maybe even 'good') at dawn on 3 m and West Acadia will be sailable all morning on 1.6 tide (even potentially White Rock East Beach like) - check out the links to photos here under the "Depth/Tide" section.

Personally I would be more than a little interested in checking out Gulf Road on a mid-one m tide as well (although ebbing with the wind).

I'll choose in the morning based on actuals. :D ;)

I really hope something touches down locally on Friday morning - so many options other places today ~

I'll try to make a pre-work session happen if the wind materializes! Sunrise is at 5am these days, so bring it on
