Is this for real? Or a cruel joke?

I hope the 12 degrees pans out, it would feel like summer compared to the last 2 sessions at 6 degrees. I'm feeling cautiously optimistic :)

Hey Guys,

If you ever wanted to explore Whidbey with an over night in Oak Harbour this Sunday/Monday is starting to look pretty sweet a few days out. Big SE on Sunday followed by big W on Monday. It's worth watching to see how the timing pans out as we get closer. I'm thinking of driving down from Kamloops for this one.

Cheers,

Chris

Chris - glad to see you're back in town. Not sure if I can pull it off but keep me posted since I'll need to juggle some work.

 All of a sudden the drive from Burnaby to WI doesn't seem like such a big commitment!

I could likely make Sunday/Monday work. 8-) But the forecasts seem to be pretty 'fluid' right now (some showing one day at WI = Sunday). :?

One of JB's other long distance options sure would be sweet - west coast of Vancouver Island (on my bucket list since high school).

My thoughts on local options (based on long term forecast):

Tide is about 4 m at dawn ebbing to 3 about noon and then back up to 4 about dark. This would favour morning (SE + ebbing tide) on the west face of Point Roberts. Afternoon may see tide pushing the same way as the wind (SW and flooding tide) on both west and south faces of Point Roberts.

Noon at White Rock might be interesting as a 3 m tide works well there (high side of mid-tide).

Michael really likes Centennial on south.

If it swings slowly might be interesting to arrive at Crystal Beach at dawn (to see what it looks like) and use the west face of Point Roberts as Plan B. Then if it swings slowly catch the south at Centennial and then end the day on SW at White Rock. Too good to be true? :-)
